Shop not selling anything to me
Posted by: Redsnakebite - 01-06-2018, 12:22 AM - Forum: Technical Issues / Bug Reports - No Replies

Since unlocking the shop at level 5, I've been unable to buy any items

I've reached level 10 now, and unlocked all other tabs
I'm at level 5 Caverns
I'm at level 1 Altar
I can sell my items as expected
The Shopkeep has never offered me items before

Can you please suggest how I can convince her to open up shop?

  Taunt & Shop
Posted by: Tecness - 08-24-2017, 11:32 AM - Forum: Suggestions / Feature Requests - No Replies

I hate both of these things. So I may be biased towards me thinking that taunt is stupidly overpowered, and the shop just sucks. The fact that you can lose money by selling more items is...not the best to say the least.
As for taunt, I dislike not being able to play the game, it's annoying. How do I suggest to fix it? Well, not exactly a simple solution but taunt could be changed to;
When X1 is taunting, Enemies that walk away/attack a different hero that isn't taunting, it costs more AP. Walking costs 25 or 30 and punching costs +10 or something. Could be like an AOE thing that is like 1 around levels 1-4, 2 around 5-9, 3 around at 10.
As for the shop suggestion change thing, not have a random value given to the item when you click on it in the shop and instead give it a random value when it's created.
Have damage % randomly picked between X and Y, same with the stats given to said item.

Star Dev Blog - What the Hell Is Going on with Dungeon Team?
Posted by: wfs-rob - 08-20-2017, 05:25 AM - Forum: General Discussion - No Replies

Hi everyone.

Rob here with an attempt at a complete explanation regarding the recent shutdown, the global game data wipe, and the past/present/future of Dungeon Team...

First - because so many people have been emailing me according to the splash screen instructions re. lost game data - when the game was brought back up on 8/16, the new backend solution required me to start with a fresh database. Please accept my sincere apologies, but I cannot restore your game data from before that date. I *can* restore any Pixie Dust purchased and/or farmed before the shutdown - please DM me on Discord with your new IGN and an estimate of how much PD I owe you.

The fact that anyone is still playing the game after such mismanagement on my part is truly amazing to me - I thank you all from the bottom of my cold, dead, capitalist heart.

So, what happened anyway? Why was the game down for 2 weeks?

As with most of Dungeon Team's problems, the short answer is: Rob is an idiot. More specifically, Rob incurred a $1700 bill from Amazon Web Services for July, which amounted to just about all the game's revenue for the month. And even MORE specifically than that, Rob's WIFE got the bill at a time when, due to Kongregate's payout cycle, Rob had not shown her more than a few hundred dollars for the 7+ months he'd been eschewing other income.

The game had to come down immediately. And not only did it have to come down, but also I had to admit general defeat - as I would have had to anyway if I were really being honest with myself about Dungeon Team's performance financially. Simply put, it doesn't make enough to support my family, and while it certainly has the *potential* to do so, there would be a lot of design changes required that a) would take more time when it was already well past the date I'd promised a return on the time invested, and b) I'm not really sure I want to do anyway, for, uh, artistic reasons.

There have been a lot of good suggestions about what to do to keep the project alive - obviously I had to research & execute another, cheaper backend solution, which thankfully I've managed to do - we've talked about Kickstarters, Patreon, other monetization models such as subscription-based. I definitely want to keep exploring these options & keep brainstorming, but the fact remains that I have had to go back to other work, that is, have had to relegate Dungeon Team to side project status. You guys still have my nights & weekends (some of them at least), but I simply can't justify putting full-time effort into the game for the time being.

This is really too bad, since 1 dude's full-time effort was already nowhere near enough to take the game to all the wonderful places we've been dreaming of taking it. As many of you know, in the weeks before the shutdown I'd spent a lot of time looking for investment, applying for grants, trying to find anyone - anyone - that could help me do a job that was clearly too big for me to handle on my own... all with no luck... I know people are disappointed, but I think I can safely say that no one is more disappointed than me.

Well, enough head-hanging. What now?

The game IS back up (at a rate I can afford), and I DO still have SOME time for it. So there is life, and where there is life there is hope. (I feel like someone important said that before me.) Of course I still have exactly the same huge list of bugs, balance fixes, feature requests, etc. to work on. So there is plenty for me to do. I would just like to ask for everyone's patience - even better really I'm asking for a huge lowering of everyone's expectations - my full-time hours belong to other work now, and my nights/weekends time is not very predictable with a family of 4. Especially if you are buying Pixie Dust, please do so with the understanding that the game is what it is.

Once again I am truly astounded that so many of you have stuck with the game through this and many other episodes of sordid nonsense. If the poets are right and money doesn't really matter, then far from being a failure, I am one of the most successful game developers ever to live, attracting, as I have, about the coolest player community anyone could hope for. And when we can't run we walk, and when we can't walk we crawl. So let's just see where we can crawl this thing, haha...

Cheers guys, see you in the game.

I wonder if it'd be possible to at least restore pixie dust purchases based on receipts? Although unlikely, I just thought it'd be nice if it was possible :/

  Fear Bow
Posted by: GoldenApple_NB - 07-17-2017, 01:30 AM - Forum: Suggestions / Feature Requests - No Replies

it's such a game breaker, just straight up take control away from user for 20 sec. And it's not like it's taunt where enemy would run up and fight, they just run to corner doing nothing. There should be a mechanic that gives the user the control of the victim once at certain distance from the attacker. Or replace fear effect with taunt or rage. at least those lets him fight, apart from the fact that taking away user control is not good first place due to AI issues.

also notice how the bow user can simply spam the arrows at the feared target to lock him out forever.
